Lahive & Cockfield placed seventh nationally in rankings published by PatentRatings LLC an independent research and rating service that provides objective, statistical-based ratings of issued and pending U.S. utility patents. Evaluating the quality of patents prosecuted between 1997 and 2001, PatentRatings' study measured essential patent characteristics determined to have a statistically significant correlation to patent value in order to establish their "best" biotech patent quality rating. Lahive & Cockfield was the only Boston-based firm to capture a top 10 spot on this ranking.
