Lahive & Cockfield, LLP Announces Three New Partners

Lahive & Cockfield, LLP is pleased to announce the election of three new partners, effective January 1, 2008. Joining the partnership are David R. Burns, John S. Curran, and Peter W. Dini.

David R. Burns assists clients in the strategic development, protection and management of Intellectual Property. His practice focuses on clients in a variety of technical fields including "Green Technologies" involving hydro-power generation, solar power and fuel cell power technologies. He also specializes in technologies involving medical devices, optical electronics, network management software, microprocessor architecture and circuitry, electromagnetics, engine control systems, biometrics and telecommunications. Mr. Burns was named a Massachusetts SuperLawyer Rising Star Attorney in 2007. John S. Curran’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of software and other computer-related patent applications. His practice includes the fields of computer aided design, computer aided modeling, model simulation, information security and storage, network storage, distributed computing, optical networking, cellular technologies and micro-electrical mechanical systems. Mr. Curran received his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law, his B.S. in computer science from Framingham State College, and his undergraduate degree from Boston College. Peter Dini specializes in patent counseling and strategic planning, including patent prosecution, freedom to operate evaluations, opinion work, and due diligence analyses involving a variety of biotechnologies. He has extensive knowledge in the areas of cellular and molecular biology, gene therapy, immunology, RNAi, vaccines, and therapeutic antibodies, and represents a broad range of clients, from start-up biotechnology companies to established biopharmaceutical corporations. Peter Dini received his law degree from Suffolk University Law School, his Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany.
