Practice Description
Ms. Mandragouras has more than 20 years of experience practicing intellectual property law and provides strategic counseling in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and chemistry. She advises clients in developing and implementing intellectual property strategies, through all phases of their development from start-up through maturity, through financing, and in the formation of strategic alliances. Amy’s technical specialties include proteins, peptides and antibodies, nucleic acids, drugs, and drug discovery technologies.
Amy works closely with life sciences companies to build strong patent portfolios to protect new biological and pharmaceutical products and related technologies. She has extensive experience in intellectual property due diligence, patentability, validity and infringement opinions, licensing, and the preparation and prosecution of patents. She has particular expertise in evaluating intellectual property assets for companies and investors in connection with collaborations, acquisitions, licensing, and financing.
Amy is Chair of the firm’s Executive Committee. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of PilotLegis RPG, a risk purchasing group which secures professional liability insurance for its members.
Notable Experience
- Developing IP strategies for leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to protect monoclonal antibody products in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, autoimmune disease, and cancer.
- Representing a privately-held biotechnology company in preparing its IP portfolio prior to its multi-million dollar acquisition by a leading research-based pharmaceutical company.
- Leading a Lahive team in conducting an extensive IP due diligence review of an antibody discovery company prior to it’s acquisition by a Japanese pharmaceutical company.
