Practice Description
Ms. Remillard is chair of the Life Sciences group. She has 16 years of experience in worldwide patent counseling and strategic planning, including patent prosecution, freedom to operate evaluations, opinion work, public offerings, agreements, licensing, due diligence analyses, interferences, and oppositions involving a variety of biomedical technologies.
Jane represents a broad range of clients, from start-up biotechnology companies to established biopharmaceutical corporations, in developing and implementing effective IP strategies, building strong patent portfolios that protect and facilitate commercialization of products and assessing freedom to operate. She is a leader in antibody patent prosecution and opinion work, representing some of the most significant companies in the field including: Bristol-Myers Squibb/Medarex; Amgen Inc.; Novartis; Genmab A/S; Hana Biosciences, Inc.; Inotek Pharmaceutical Corp; Merrimack Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; and Avant Therapeutics.
Jane also works with companies and investors to provide due diligence evaluations and opinions in connection with collaborations, acquisitions, licensing, and financing both in the U.S. and abroad. She has considerable experience with public offerings, including initial public offerings.
Notable Experience
- Representing clients in initial public offerings (IPOs) and multi-million dollar deals, including Genmab A/S; Accentia Biopharmaceuticals, Inc.; Hana Biosciences, Inc.; and Bristol-Myers Squibb/Medarex.
- Advising investors, including venture capitalists and investment bankers, in assessing the strength of intellectual property assets held by prospective candidates for investment.
- Prosecuting patent rights covering an antibody product, which constituted the IP for a $2 billion deal.
- Conducting the IP due diligence for a leading gene therapy company in its $35 million Series B funding with new investors.
- Organizing educational seminars with clients on antibody technologies for Examiners at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
